The Lyrics
I’m Happy Just Being Me
© 2008 Farias/Kent
I don’t need to sail like Columbus, ‘cross the sea,
I don’t need three more ships to come with me.
If I can row my boat along the ocean,
Where the white sand meets the sea,
Then I’m happy just being me.
I don’t need to paint like Michael Angelo,
In a chapel that the whole world gets to know,
If I can paint my kitchen ceiling,
And no one gets to see,
Then I’m happy just being me.
I’m happy just being me,
I’m happy just being me,
If all I have is you, And all you have is me,
Then I’m happy just being me.
I don’t need to sit like the Budda under a tree,
Or to mediate with “om” in perfect key,
If I can show an act of kindness
To a stranger that’s in need,
Then I’m happy just being me
Chorus
I don’t need to write a symphony like Bach,
I don’t need to be the king of Classic Rock,
If I can sing my kid to sleep,
With a melody so sweet,
Then I’m happy just being me.
Chorus
Leave It All Be
© 2008 Farias/Kent
Those were the fields that we used to play in,
The builders came and they took them away, an’
I can‘t see the forest without any the trees,
Why can’t we leave it all be?
The grass that I see now, just isn’t as green,
And the mighty old oaks can’t even be seen,
Would have left them all standing, if it were up to me,
Why can’t we leave it all be?
Haven’t we noticed, Haven’t we seen?
Why can’t we leave it all be?
Where have the cows gone that I used to see
Are we taking away the all land they need?
They used to bathe in the sun where I’d watch them roam free,
Why can’t we leave it all be?
I hear they’ve been taken to live out their days
Crammed in together with no fields to graze.
They say it’s good business but I disagree.
Why can’t we leave it all be?
Chorus
We’re losing the land for more stores we don’t need,
Leaving the wildlife with nowhere to feed,
And all of our songbirds, no place to sing.
Why can’t we leave it all be?
We’re building new homes and they stand in our view,
We can’t see the sun rise the way that we used to,
We’re using up all of our space, and where will it lead?
Why can’t we leave it all be?
Chorus

It’s gonna happen to us all,
Some sooner and some later,
We’ll all be called to leave this life,
And return to our creator
And I’m not afraid of dying,
or to leave all this behind,
But crossin’ over to the other side,
Here’s what I’d like to find.
When I die and get to Heaven,
I hope that I will see,
the streets behind those pearly gates,
are Mayberry RFD
I’ll patrol the town with Andy,
and his sidekick, Barney Fife,
with one bullet in our pockets,
we’ll protect the afterlife
Our car will always run just fine
with Goober at the station
and Gomer Pyle will take his place,
When he goes on vacation
Floyd will trim my hair each week,
I’ll never have looked finer,
For when I try to steal Juanita,
from Barney at the diner.
I’ll have some drinks with Otis
let myself out of the cell,
and be sittin’ in Ms Crumb’s class
before the morning bell.
Chorus
I’ll sneak off to our secret hole
on weekends to go fishin’
and I never will go hungry
with Aunt Bee in the kitchen
When I need a fancy restaurant
for a special celebration,
I‘ll call up to Mount Pilate,
and make a dinner reservation
I’ll have a son like Opey
so darn cute and so polite,
We’ll sit on the porch with Andy
and play “guitars” every night
I‘ll learn “Go Tell Aunt Rhody”,
And “Boil Them Cabbage Down”,
So I can jam with ‘The Darlins’
The next time they’re in town.
Chorus
Not a nicer group of kinfolk,
or a safer place could be,
That’s where I hope to spend my days
For all eternity
The Light Still Shines
© 2008 Farias/Kent
Seems so strange to look outside
at the old gray house next door,
And listen for that laughter
that I can’t hear no more.
The rooms have all been emptied out,
For Sale sign’s on the lawn,
It hurts me now to think of how much time
has come and gone.
Those sounds I’d come to know so well,
have all begun to fade,
I’m left with just a shadow of
the life that she had made.
The television has gone silent now,
the rocking chair sits still,
But in my mind, her light still shines,
in my heart and on that
front porch window sill
What was once a fine trimmed lawn,
is now grass that’s overgrown,
Yearning for that tender care
it had always known.
There’s no faces in the window,
no clothes out on the line,
No one to get the morning news
when the sun begins to shine
And at our Sunday table,
there’ll be an empty space,
But at our Father’s table,
I know she’s found her place
Chorus
Now I suppose it won’t take long,
‘til someone new moves in
With all of their own hopes & dreams
and a new life to begin
I’ll gaze across the yard to see
that light that brightly shone
Through many of my darkest nights,
to lead me safely home
I’ll listen close and try to hear,
the laughter or the tears,
Or any old familiar sound,
that’s lingered through the years
Chorus
Step On Up To The Pub
© 2008 Farias/Kent
Come on me boys, step on up to the pub,
We’ve pints to be hoistin,’ and elbows to rub.
We’ve worked hard all day, and we’ve earned a good pay
Now let’s get together and drink it away!
We’ll drink to our country, and patron St. Pat,
With a good Irish whiskey, and a tip of the hat.
We’ll toast those in the tomb, and those still in the womb,
Hell we’ll toast each of us drinking here in this room!
Chorus
We’ll drink through the night till the morning has come,
Till the kids are asleep and our dinner is done,
Our wives may be angry, but we’re having fun,
And cold fish & chips are still better than none!
Chorus
We’ll drink till our bellies have all had their fill,
Or until we are down to our last dollar bill,
When there’s nothin’ but foam, to the streets we will roam,
And with help from above we will find our way home
Chorus
We’ll wake up the children, get them out of bed,
With a kiss on the cheek and a pat on the head,
We’ll tell them what fine men they’ll grow up to be,
And soon they’ll be toasting Saint Paddy with me!
Chorus
Is There Still Room For Me
© 2008 Farias/Kent
I keep on asking you where we’re going,
I’d like to know, what lies ahead
Sometime I feel that we’re moving closer,
But then you turn and walk away instead
No more stories, No more lies,
No more pretending, everything’s all right.
The only question, that I can see
Is, inside that heart of yours,
Is there still room for me?
I keep on thinking, that it might over,
As unsure, as things seem to be
Is that road your travelin’ with all it’s distractions,
Still gonna lead you back to me
Chorus
If I can help you, in all of your searching,
If there’s any answers, you need from me.
This time you can find me right here waiting,
But next time, I may not be
Chorus
None Here By Desire
© 2008 Farias/Kent
I saw a man walking down the street
His hands as cold as ice,
Looking for a place to lay his head
To get him through the night.
Huddled close against the wall,
A shattered group of men,
Tired, cold, unsatisfied,
Tomorrow they’ll try again
Many more will gather round,
warming by the fire,
Most of them not here by choice,
None here by desire
I passed a woman dressed in rags,
Her skin had not been bathed,
The sign she held read “Work for Food”
the one above her “Jesus Saves.”
Some rolled down their window,
Handed her a buck or two,
Now they feel they’ve done their part,
What else could they do?
Chorus
There’s a young man in the corner
He’s passed out on the floor,
Although he loves his family,
He loves that bottle more
That pretty little girl, ‘bout seventeen,
Not proud of what she’s done,
Too bad her daddy didn’t show his love
Before she learned to run
Chorus
Further down the alley,
United they all stand
Weary men and women
Who fought hard for this land
We all display “Support our Troops”
For soldiers in the war,
But after all they’ve given us
Don’t they deserve much more?
Chorus
Will I Ever Find A Love Like That Again?
© 2008 Farias/Kent
Sometimes I think about you,and the choices that you made,
Would they still have been the same, if I had stayed?
All the plans we made together, Would we have seen them through,
and would you still be lovin me, Or someone new?
I often sit and wonder, just how things might have been,
If we had stayed together, way back then.
But now you have your own life, and I’m settled here in mine,
But still I think of what we may have left behind.
A big house in the city, or a cottage by the pond.
Would there be little children all around?
Things turned out so different from what we wanted then.
Will I ever find a love like that again?
When you moved back into your place, and I stayed here in mine,
I knew that getting over you, was gonna take some time.
Although it wasn’t easy, it’s a choice I had to make,
I thought it was the best one for my own sake.
And I am not unhappy, and you don’t seem to be.
But does your love for him replace that love for me?
And do you feel that something’s missing, or got lost along the way,
And do you ever think of where we’d be today.
Chorus
But I still can’t help but wonder about the path we didn’t take.
The one that didn’t lead us to the life we didn’t make
Chorus
A New Day Has Begun
© 2008 Farias/Kent
There’s always so much goin on’,
Before it’s here tomorrow’s gone,
There’s always something else to do.
I should relax and slow it down,
Stop my rushin’ all around,
And spend some more time here with you.
So caught up in all we do,
All this work to struggle through,
Still it seems like we never get ahead.
I should just look the other way,
Put things off for just a day,
And spend the time with you instead
Amidst a life of hurry,
And my thoughts of worry,
I start to feel that warmth of the sun.
And I begin to realize,
as I look into your eyes,
That a new day has begun.
Time deceives us like a thief,
Leaves us all in disbelief,
How fast the hours seem to pass.
So many things to say and do,
So much I’d like to share with you
I want this time we have to last
Chorus
At the end of every busy day,
It’s enough just to hear you say,
There’s no where else you’d rather be.
It will all get done tomorrow
There’s no need for sorrow,
As long, as I know, I have you near
Together we’ll discover
All along we’ve had each other,
To help our worries disappear
Chorus
